Tengbom is a leading architecture firm that strives to enhance its clients' understanding of the architecture process and what the company can offer. For this project, Tengbom aimed to develop an educational solution to inspire exploration and clearly communicate the company's services. The goal was to create an interactive platform and a "personal shopper" function to effectively guide and inform clients about Tengbom's offerings and processes.

My Role

In this project, My role as the UI Designer alongside with UX Designer and a Strategic Project Manager. I created wireframes and further developed the concept idea, presentation, and user journey.

Challenges

A significant challenge was that clients often did not understand the architecture process and Tengbom's services — when certain services would be implemented and how changes would affect costs and options. It was also crucial to clearly communicate both financial and human values. Another challenge was to create a visually appealing and educational way to present the user and customer journey, requiring easily understandable and abstract illustrations.

Process

  • Develop a scalable, educational solution for creating "AHA moments."

  • Inspire and encourage exploration of Tengbom's offerings.

  • Integrate a "personal shopper" to guide and inform clients about Tengbom's services.

  • Build an interactive platform to explore and understand Tengbom's services and processes.

  • Create clear icons and wireframes to illustrate and explain the user and customer journey effectively.

Outcome

The result was an interactive solution targeting both clients and internal stakeholders at Tengbom, featuring clear and stylish Bauhaus-inspired illustrations. To advance this project further, we conducted interviews with staff, further development, user testing with both employees and clients, and the development of an MVP (Minimum Viable Product). The solution facilitated understanding of the user journey and service editor at Tengbom for both internal and external clients.

At the outset of the project, clients select the type of engagement they seek with Tengbom, whether it's architecture, interior design, environmental architecture, or urban planning. This initial decision aids Tengbom in presenting its services and potential costs effectively. The project unfolds through six structured steps, guiding clients through each phase of development.

Once the client finalizes their project requirements, they can summarize their needs and receive estimates for potential offers based on their specifications. This process ensures clarity and transparency in project management from inception to proposal.
